Living NPCs

Runaria's NPCs hold real conversations. Right-click one and just type in chat — they answer in character, remember you between visits, and warm up or cool off depending on how you treat them.

Talking to them

  • Right-click an NPC and chat normally. Say bye, or just go quiet, to end the conversation.
  • While you're mid-conversation, other players' public chat is hidden so the thread stays readable.
  • NPCs with quests or services open a chooser first: Talk, Quests, or their service button. Quest hand-ins always work as normal.

The craftsmen are NPCs too

Velreal (forges and workbenches), Browntul (refineries), Kiko (gems and enchanting) and Kate (cooking) each open their crafting stations from that same menu — and you can talk to them like anyone else while you're there.

They remember you

Each NPC keeps a personal memory of your conversations. More important characters remember more detail, for longer — a passing townsfolk might recall your last chat for a couple of weeks, while a major story character effectively never forgets.

Reputation & relationships

Reputation — every NPC tracks how they feel about you, and word gets around: your overall standing colours how strangers receive you. Hit milestones with a character and they may hand you gifts or unlock perks. Reputation slowly fades if you disappear for days at a time.

Relationships — story characters track a deeper personal bond on a named ladder:

Tier Bond
Stranger 0.5 – 1.4
Familiar 1.5 – 2.9
Acquaintance 3.0 – 4.9
Friend 5.0 – 6.9
Close Friend 7.0 – 8.9
Beloved 9.0 – 10.0

Check yours with /relationships. Caelen's daily quests are one reliable way to grow a bond.

They know the world

NPCs know Runaria's towns, its landmarks, rumours about its dungeons, and how the server's systems actually work. Asking a townsperson for directions, or how traits work, gets you a real answer in character — they'll even quote the right commands.

They won't invent places, people, or mechanics that don't exist, so what they tell you can be trusted.
