Professions¶
Professions run alongside your class, each capping at level 200. They are not a side activity — profession levels feed your main character level, and three of them directly control how good the things you make are.
The professions¶
| Profession | How you level it |
|---|---|
| Mining | Breaking vanilla ore blocks. Diamond and emerald are worth roughly four times coal; redstone and lapis about double. Silk Touch does not count. |
| Farming | Harvesting crops you planted, plus melon, pumpkin, sugar cane, mushrooms, kelp, sea pickle and nether wart. |
| Woodcutting | Chopping logs. |
| Cooking | Cooking Station recipes. Also trickles in passively from harvesting crops. |
| Alchemy | Brewing potions. Splash, lingering, extended and upgraded variants are worth four times a plain potion — always finish your brews. |
| Blacksmithing | Forge and workbench recipes. There is no vanilla source. |
| Gemforging | Crafting at the Gem Station and Enchant Forge. Explicitly not vanilla enchanting. |
| Smelting | Refinery recipes. |
| Combat | Not yet active. |
| Fishing | Not yet active — the fishing system isn't open. |
Why they matter¶
Every profession level feeds your character level. Each profession level-up dumps class experience into your main level. Grinding professions genuinely levels your character, so a dedicated crafter isn't falling behind.
Blacksmithing makes everything you craft better. Crafted gear rolls in a higher stat range the more Blacksmithing you have — noticeable around level 25 and dramatic by 200, where your minimum roll sits about 80% up the range and the maximum is 30% higher than baseline. Refineries also hand you bonus ingots on every craft:
| Blacksmithing | Bonus ingots |
|---|---|
| 1 | ~50% chance of +1 |
| 25 | +1 guaranteed |
| 75 | +2 guaranteed |
| 125 | +3 guaranteed |
| 200 | +4 guaranteed, with a coin flip for +5 |
Level Blacksmithing before you burn rare ore
Refining your hard-won late-game ore at level 10 versus level 150 is a very different amount of metal. Practice on cheap materials first.
Gemforging controls enchant power. The level an Enchant Stone rolls scales with your Gemforging. Below 75 you're capped well under an enchant's maximum; at 75 every tier becomes reachable, and past that the odds keep shifting toward high rolls all the way to 200.
Cooking buffs scale with the cook, not the eater. A dish made by a high-level chef is stronger and lasts longer in anyone's hands. This is the single best argument for a dedicated chef in your guild.
How fast they level¶
Three difficulty curves, all running to level 200:
| Curve | First level costs | Final level costs | Professions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gathering | 85 XP | ~672,000 XP | Mining, Farming, Woodcutting |
| Processing | 105 XP | ~840,000 XP | Cooking, Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Gemforging |
| Refining | 140 XP | ~1,109,000 XP | Smelting |
Refining costs about 65% more per level than gathering. Smelting is deliberately the longest grind on the server, because nearly every material chain funnels through it.
