Alchemy & Potions¶
Alchemy is brewing's dangerous sibling. It runs on the same Essences — if you've filled in your Almanac, that knowledge carries over completely — but the Alchemy Station turns the mix into a potion: much stronger than any drink, and much shorter. Drinks are preparation; potions are the thing you pop for the boss.
Alchemy is its own profession, levelled by brewing at the station.
What's different from drinks¶
- Potions hit harder and end sooner. The same ingredients that make a gentle half-hour drink make a fierce couple-of-minutes potion.
- Potions can reach tiers drinks never touch — the strongest effects on the server come out of this station.
- One potion buff set at a time, replaced by the next potion — and it stacks with your food and drink buffs.
- The output is a real named potion: what you brewed determines what you're holding, from a Potion of Strength to things you'll have to discover.

Fish are catalysts¶
Here is alchemy's own trick: the station has two catalyst slots, and they take fish. A fish never adds a stat of its own — it amplifies the mix:
- Ordinary fish boost everything a little; rarer species boost more.
- Prefixed fish boost one family of stats hard. The prefix tells you the family — ember fish feed damage, frostscale fish feed defences, phantom and shadowfin fish feed evasion, mystic and enchanted fish feed magic, radiant and luminous fish feed vitality, gilded and glimmering fish feed fortune. There are more; the names are honest.
- Size matters. A trophy catch amplifies far more than a runt — the scale on your fishing rod is now an alchemy stat.
- The cosmic uniques — celestial, stardust, starbright, aurora, spectral, veilfin — amplify everything and can push a potion past its vessel's normal limit. They are the only ingredient in the game that can do that.
If you don't fish, befriend someone who does. Alchemists are about to become the fish market's best customers.
Crits¶
Same ladder as drinks — Fine, Superior, Masterwork — rolled against your Alchemy level, and only ever upgrades. A Masterwork potion is as good as consumables get.
